Fruits, Veggies, & Easter Eggs on the Move

LVCC preschool, Pre-K Counts, and school-age classes were special guests of Mayor Ed Pawlowski and the Allentown Health Bureau yesterday at Cedar Beach Park in Allentown.

Students from LVCC at South Mountain watched as city officials accepted the Childhood Obesity Prevention award from the US Conference of Mayors.

The city's “Fruits & Veggies on the Move” initiative is designed to increase access to fresh fruits and vegetables while generating excitement among youth about eating fruits and vegetables. A truck, colorfully wrapped in fruit-and-vegetable motif, will bring free fruits and vegetables to Allentown playgrounds and recreation areas throughout the summer.

The official ceremony commenced with our students "taste-testing" samples from the truck, including fresh strawberries, green beans, pears, and bottled water.

The Easter Bunny surprised us with an indoor Easter egg hunt at LVCC's Judith Chase Early Learning Center!

For the past 18 years, the Kiwanis Action Club has proudly partnered with LVCC. Kiwanis brought along friends from Lifespan to help hide Easter eggs. Each class took turns in searching for candy-filled plastic eggs.

All the children found two eggs - one for each hand. Everyone had fun!

Although elementary school was closed for the holiday, school-age students kept busy this week at LVCC at Union Boulevard

Our class practiced painting colorful spring displays. The Easter holiday inspired vibrant eggs with unique designs and delicate paper butterflies. The yellow chicks and brown bunnies were created using handprints.

Beautiful children's artwork... coming soon to a refrigerator in your home!
