PBS is Raising Readers
Last night, the Pre-K Counts class at South Mountain began a workshop series with PBS, titled "Raising Readers." In the children’s session, they discussed quality PBS programming, watched an episode of “Super WHY”, read a story and chose two books to take home. Later, parents and children came together, watched an episode of “Martha Speaks” and created a puppet craft. The feedback from parents and children was outstanding!
A special thanks to our friends from PBS!

The Farm Show
The Pre-K Counts class enrolled at Campus Center (Southside Bethlehem) invited the Quiver Traveling Farm to visit their facility on May 7, 2009. The children learned about the varying animals who live on farms. The students truly enjoyed petting and holding the animals.
All Aboard!
A dedicated group of early childhood teachers, center directors and advocates boarded the Lehigh Valley Child Care Chu Chu and headed to Harrisburg yesterday for Early Childhood Action Day; the theme was "The Little Engine that Could." Every member of the delegation met with local Representatives and Senators before attending an Early Childhood Rally in the Capitol Rotunda.
All involved would like to thank The United Way for sponsoring the transportation and Janet Soos for being our ever-cheerful train conductor!
